I've been neglecting my blog this past few weeks. Usually I try to squeeze in at least one post a week, but this past few weeks have been crazy. Good crazy, but just filled with fun stuff and a little less fun stuff, but stuff that needed to be done ;-) And although I want to promise to better my life I know vacation is just around the corner, so let's not make any promises and just see how it goes;-)

I've not only been neglecting my blog though, I didn't get round to any scrappy play either. Until thursday this is.. Last thursday I made my first layout in a month and it felt good! I absolutely love the feeling I get from scrapbooking!

This page is about my handsome little nephew. The picture was taken last april. The page is made with mostly the Roller Rink kit from Studio Calico. The colors were perfect for this photo. The journaling is about how I love this little guy and how he steals the show with his cute girls and naughty smile :-)

supplies: cardstock (Bazzill Basics Paper: white and American Crafts: Ash), patterned papers (Studio Calico Exclusive: Seize the moment and plaza, American Crafts Amy Tangerine Ready Set Go: To do List, American Crafts Exclusive: Speech Bubbles Paper), enamel dots (My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Collection: Smile Enamel Dots), Washi tapes (Freckled Fawn Exclusive: Primer Wide Washi Tape and Freckled Fawn: Green Washi), Thickers (American Crafts: Sotheby in Woodgrain) letter stickers (Basic Grey Exclusive for Studio Calico).

For the Camera embellishment I used the sketch feature on my Cameo for the first time. I absolutely love it!

Can't wait to hear what you think!

I used this supercute whale cut from Silhouette (free shape of the week last week).

Place Rahba Kedima

The past weeks we've had some extra days off and although I was planning on getting some crafting done a nasty bug came across so I spent most of my days in bed, not having the energy to do anything at all.. But, last friday I started to feel like crafting again, so I did :-)

Here's a page I made about our trip to Marrakech (Morocco) in 2011. Other tourists were so kind to make pictures of the two of us.. I think this is about the only picture where we are together. I like the business of it, all the different colors..

For scrapping the pictures of this holiday I'm using papers of the Basic Grey Marrakech line from a few years back :-) Thought it was so appropriate..

supplies: cardstock (Bazzill Basics Paper), patterned papers (Basic Grey Marrakech line: Mandarin Slice, Palace Blue and Chai), buttons (orange button and map button by My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart "Be Amazing" Button card and striped button by American Crafts Dear Lizzy), letter stickers (Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type).

For this page I used a sketch from the Signature Series from the awesome Kelly Purkey. I designed my own frames (except for the one in vellum) for this layout. Love that personal touch! I'm actually quite happy with how this layout turned out!

Can't wait to hear what you think!

Mama, I love you!

Today is mothersday. For me it's not necessarily a day to buy huge presents for my mom, but a day to honor my mom, to thank her for all she is, all she does.

I've made this layout to honor my mom and our relationship. The journaling says: Dear mom, I admire you, for what you do for dad, for caring for the people around you, for your energy that doesn't seem to have an end. I love you!

supplies all come from Studio Calico kits: patterned papers (Echo Park For the Record 2 - Just my type & Bouquet, American Crafts Amy Tangerine Ready Set Go - On the clock & Wind Down, Basic Grey exclusive for Studio Calico XSC-015, My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine " Together" Chevron Paper & Lavender "Reasons Why" Swatch Paper), thickers (American Crafts, Memo in Burlap), gold washi tape (Freckled Fawn), sequins (Studio Calico), bakers twine (orange by My Mind's Eye, yellow by Divine Twine), brads (My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing), stickers (Echo Park For the Record 2 - Alpha Stickers and My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine "Wonderful"  Tiny Words Stickers), and wood banners (My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine "Hello"  Decorative Buttons)

For the base of this page I was heavily inspired by the 'Three' layout from Geralyn Sy. I love love love how she used the Amy Tan paper with the orange sketched drops. I have to admit I was struggling to use this paper. On the one hand because I love it so much and didn't want to ruin it and on the other hand because it's quite a busy pattern. So I used it the way Geralyn did and I love how this page turned out.

Have a great mothersday!

Tomorrow we celebrate mothersday here in the Netherlands and I crafted two simple little frames for my mother and my mother in law. Obviously I made good use of my Silhouette to craft these frames:-)

Project Pinterest April

It's time for another episode of Project Pinterest! (and again I'm a day late ;-))

In this series I will let myself be inspired by Pinterest to scrap, cook a meal, bake a pie, do my hair, my nails, et cetera. As many of you, I could browse around Pinterest for days on end, but I rarely really use any of my repinned images. And that's a shame, because there's so much good stuff outthere!

This month I let myself be inspired by metro art layouts such as thisthis and this. I've been wanting to try this for a while now.. And I probably will make some variations on this as well.. For now I've tried the washi underneath but I would love to use sequins or buttons some other time :-)

Here's my page:

Love how it turned out, although I'm contemplating embellishing a bit more...

Can't wait to hear what you think!

The last queensday!

Today is a special day in my little country. Today is our last queensday. This morning our Queen Beatrix of Orange abdicated. Her son is now our new king. It's a very special day which will be spent in front of the television for a large part and where everyone will wear orange and eat 'oranje tompoucen' (orange millefeuilles). It's a historical day.

Project Life 2012 recap

So that's it... Project Life 2012 is done.. Took me about a year and a half:-) I absolutely loved to do this project. I loved figuring out new ways to arrange and embellish my pictures, loved figuring ways to document just ordinary every day memories.

But it wouldn't be fair to say it was all good, because it wasn't. The time I have to scrap is limited and man did this project take a lot of time. I spent holidays just working through weeks and weeks I was behind on. And although it was relaxing and I didn't rush myself (obviously;-)), it started annoy me that I didn't have any time left to do any other projects and I have to admit that towards the end I just wasn't feeling it anymore.. But that's allright.. It doesn't bother me :-) Au contraire... I love to look back at it, even though the adventures I documented are not that long ago. Even now I love to see it, so imagine how it will be in a few years from now...

I'm glad I did it... Maybe just maybe I'll do this project again.. Some day when our life is different from the way it is now.. but I'll pass for this year ;-)

This is me!

I'm taking part in Studio Calico's This is me class taught by Lexi Bridges, accompanied by loads of great contributors such as Jennifer Pebbles, Nicole Harper and Leena Loh. I really can't get over how awesome this class is and after months of Project Life I was ready to take on something new. This class is perfect for it!

What I really love about this class is that everyone is able to fill it in how they like. Some may make a mini album, while others go for regular layouts. Some may use it to document their current life, while others choose a life biography type of project.

I took the opportunity to document my twenties with this album. In these years a lot changes and very rapidly at that :-) I like to have an album to look back on and remember what it was like. Since I'm not yet 30 this will be a project I'll continue to work on. I hope you'll follow me on this journey!

And you know what's awesome about this class too? The amazing class kit!

To accompany this amazing stuff I chose several different products. I picked a Studio Calico Handbook, lots of stuff from the Studio Calico Sundrifter line, some Sew easy stuff from We R Memorykeepers, glitter tape from American Crafts, letter stickers from October Afternoon, several different Mr. Huey's colors and some more bits and pieces:

Tonight I started decorating my handbook:

Can't wait to show you guys a lot more as I'm making progress with this new project! Get back soon!

Have a great weekend!
