ProjectLife Week 20

Hi everyone!

Here's week 20 of ProjectLife :-) It's good to be picking up the pace again with PL after two months of holiday and work on it on a regular basis again:-) It's necessary as well :-P

detail 1 :-) Love this card.. Why? That's obvious;-)

detail 2 :-) Love these two cards. For the second one I misted a small card with a bubble mask and three colors of mist (both Studio Calico). For the first I used three different washi's and a wood veneer sun :-)

Week 33 Instagrammed

I'm totally addicted to Instagram.. It's such a great app:-) Before I downloaded it, I already made tons of pictures with my Iphone. But this app makes it so much fun:-)

Here's a little peek into my life last week. My fiancé was away for the week, but I had to work anyway, so it was quite alright :-) Too bad he missed out on the one week of real summer over here ;-)

Be in the moment...

I need to enjoy the things I do more, enjoy life more, need to be in the moment...

There are so many things I like/want/need to do... I like to scrap, like to cook, like to read, like to spend time online (hello messageboards, pinterest, blogs and instagram), want to work out, like to spend more time with my fiancé, family and friends... But I can't do it all... Well at least not at the same time:-) And I have developed the nasty habbit that when I'm doing one thing, I think about all the other things I could have done at that same time... And obviously that takes out a big part of the fun of the thing I ám doing at that moment... 

So that's why I say to myself: be in the moment!

Project Life 2012

This year I jumped into a new craft adventure: Project Life. And although it's very time-consuming I have loved every minute of it! I love to look back at the pages I've made so far.

I've heard lots of people quitting or wanting to quit Project Life. Being that it's a very time-consuming hobby I can understand that. Even though I'm 3 months behind, for me quitting Project Life is not an option. This project is so dear to me and I'm determined to finish this year. To keep up I need to keep it simple, but that's allright :-)

From now on I will show you my finished weeks, but in this spread I would like to share with you some favourites of the months January - April 2012 :-) 

These pictures are really dear to me.. We got engaged during the second week of this year :-)

Love the glitter tape by American Crafts

This winter I got to ice skate outside for the first time since a few years; loved it!

Love hanging in out with friends and love all things sweet & sugary, so this high tea at a friends home was perfect! The cupcakes are woodveneers I covered with Zing :-)

New addiction as of this year (as for many of you): washi tape!

Love how this little airplane card turned out :-)

My little nephew, he's so cute!

And for this little card I made washi covered wood veneer hearts :-) Love how they turned out!

It's that time of the month again...

Each month on the 14th when I wake up the sneaks of a new Studio Calico kit are available.. And so this morning I would like to share with you the sneaks of Central High that went live this morning:

At this moment I think I like add-ons one and three best:-) Love the stamps in both of these add-ons and love the washi in one and the flair in three :-) But I'm sure that as new sneaks will come I change my mind for several times;-)

By the way, there's a 'new kit on the block'  at Studio Calico this month as well:   the Studio Calico card kit:-)

I'm not really a card-maker but the kit looks great! Especially the stamp set from Lawn fawn!

And there's more more more exciting news. Last month Studio Calico announced on their blog that 6 (!) designteammembers are leaving. I'm really sad to see Vee Jennings, Davinie Fiero, Laura Kurz, Nicole Harper, Stephanie Howell and Kelly Purkey go (especially KP:-(), but this morning (depending on where you're at:-)) Studio Calico announced their new designteammembers:

Sasha Farina who was on the team before (and makes great PL spreads ;-)), Amy Tan, Becky Novacek, Maile Belles, Marcy Penner and last but not least Robyn Werlich who did a great job at the summer stamp school in the month of July :-) 

Especially love that Amy Tan and Marcy Penner joined the team and I'm really curious to see what all new members come up with for the month of September! Can't wait!

2012 Layouts so far..

Today I want to show you the layouts I've made this year so far :-) Although I have been scrapbooking before it wasn't until let's say a year ago that I really got the hang of it.. And still there are only eight layouts to show for this year.. That's partially because (sadly) I don't have much time to scrap:-( But also because I've been doing ProjectLife (for the first time) this year. Will talk (and show) more about that some other time :-)

But here they are.. my eight pages made this year. I know they're far from perfect and I can't wait to practice more and more and improve myself :-)

From left to right, from top to bottom:

Me at 25 - my first layout made with my first StudioCalico kit from March 2012 (Story Hour). Especially love the floral design paper from Crate Papers Storyteller collection. Loved the fabric yoyo's by Amy Tan as well :-)

Love my hat - again a page made with Story hour, my first layout with a square picture. Most of my pictures are 4x6, standard photo print size (or at least over here in Europe)

Engaged - This layout is very dear to me. In the first place because of the subject, our engagement in 2012, but also because I like the way it turned out very much! It might be my favourite so far :-)

Get on the bus - Or should I say the triangle-train ;-) Had to try this trend for myself, I like how it turned out, but I think it's a bit plain :-)

Love - made with the Story Hour kit as well, love all the different pieces of paper. For the title I used a stencil by Jenni Bowlin. I traced the letters and then hand-cut them :-) (sadly I don't own a Silhouette (yet) :-))

Passionate - What I love most about this page is the picture. It has got my fiance on it, conducting a band. It just captures his passion for music so perfectly. Because the picture is quite dark I really wanted to use bright colors and Amy Tans Sketchbook Collection was just perfect for that.

Cafe des Epices & La Medina - For the pictures of our holiday in Marrakech (Morocco) last year I purchased an older collection kit from BasicGrey: the Marrakech collection kit. Couldn't think of anything more suitable and although isn't a style I would normally pick these fit perfectly with the colors in the pictures we took while we were there :-) The first one is my favourites. I made my own stamped embellishments for it:-)

Pop off the page!

At the beginning of this month a new class was presented at Studio Calico: Pop off the page with Jen Jockisch. And as soon as I read the description and saw the class kit (hello exclusive stamp set!) I knew I couldn't resist:-)

The class will be about layering paper and embellishments on a page, to add detail, dimension and visual interest to a project. 

There will be contributions to this class from:Wilna Furstenberg, Kim Stewart, Rahel Menig, Christine Middlecamp, Stephanie Dagan, Kinsey Wilson, Keisha Campbell, Sophie Crespy, Sasha Farina and Danielle Flanders.

The class is self paced, so all (4) PDFs will be available on the 1st of September. The PDFs will cover several different subjects:

PDF one: adding detail and dimension with paper layers, ephemera, mists & ink.

PDF two: creating layers from stamps, punches, die cuts and dimensional paper techniques

PDF three: layering in mini albums

PDF four: layering tips and tricks from Jen

I absolutely love the sneaks I've seen so far and can't wait to get started!
